Revised for 2024, in response to staff and student feedback, the UOW Subject Site Template offers a basis for creating consistent and user-friendly Moodle sites.

Acknowledging the need for consistency and quality, whilst appreciating that one size does not fit all, the Subject Site Template can be customised by staff to suit discipline-specific needs. It features a range of pre-populated good practice design features that support student learning in the online environment.

You can use the template as a blank slate to build your subject in, or select components of it to enhance an existing site.

Key features

The template includes:
  • A layout that facilitates logical organisation of content into a subject information section, an assessment section and week/topic/module sections.
  • A feedback mechanism for gathering ongoing anonymous feedback from students.
  • Activity completion functionality that supports tracking student interactions in a site (and promotes students’ self-regulated learning).
  • A pre-populated block drawer including a templated teaching staff block and calendar.
A comprehensive list of the template's features is included in the article, Using the UOW Subject Site Template.
