Subject readings and Moodle
Subject Readings is UOW’s reading list management tool integrated with Moodle. It provides students with access to essential and recommended readings for their subject. This includes, but is not limited to, print or electronic Library resources (ebooks, book chapters and journal articles), textbooks, websites and streaming videos.
Integrated with Moodle, the Subject Readings Activity tool creates a seamless and accessible user experience for student learning. Students can access course readings and activities that align with learning outcomes and assessments anytime, on any device through a single, intuitive user interface.
Why?
The Subject Readings Activity tool, provides teaching staff with the flexibility to manage and control annotated reading lists that can be customised either by editing, adding or deleting resources throughout the session, according to the pedagogic strategy. Course materials can be integrated into relevant contexts within subject readings either by weekly, topic or format type.
The tool allows teaching staff to monitor student engagement with course readings from usage analytics and reports. This allows for teaching staff to evaluate the frequency in which specific readings have been accessed, providing essential information of student engagement with course materials.
Other interactive learning features of the tool is annotation and discussion. Teaching staff can annotate specific readings within the reading list to ensure students understand learning outcome expectations. The benefits and features students have in engaging with their reading list includes interacting directly in discussion with both tutors and peers; fostering an independent and enriched student learning experience.
How?
The Subject Readings tool provides copyright compliance of digitised resources, managed by the Library, prior to publishing to students. It's important to note that uploading library resources directly to your subject Moodle site without using the Subject Readings Activity tool does not provide these benefits.
