Module Planner Template

The Module Planner is a tool that you can use to develop modules and learning experiences for a range of learning events such as short courses, degree courses and subjects. In this context, a module may mean a week, a topic, or a single activity. The type of learning event and the module unit that you decide to use will determine the volume of detail that you include in your template.

Why?

The template provides a guide for you to use in planning module content. The process of creating learning content and activities can be time-consuming and costly. Pre-planning your learning modules helps ensure that the materials produced meet the learning outcomes and that activities are designed to support and provide sufficient context to learners in how they should use the materials. Furthermore, the template can be used to communicate requirements amongst the design team and in negotiating decisions about how best to develop materials in the learning platform.

How?

Download the Module Planner Template. It is recommended you complete one template for each module in your short course. The template provides a series of prompts for items you will want to consider for the module. The file has been created as a Word document so that you can add as much text and information as you need.

A sample completed Module Planner Template has also been provided as a model to demonstrate the types of information and ways in which you might structure your module planner.
